Sanitation & Disinfection

  • As always, Be Spa thoroughly sanitizes and disinfects its facilities after EVERY appointment. We continue to keep things squeaky clean.

  • This includes but is not limited to common areas, waiting areas, restrooms, showers, ALL internal and external equipment surfaces, crannies, door knobs, fixtures, and ALL customer touch points. We're not messing around here.

  • We have always used an industry brand disinfectant that meets OSHA standards for pathogen decontamination. Although unnecessary, we double-disinfect surfaces using hydrogen peroxide as an additional measure.

  • Our multi-disinfection and commercial filtration process performs a total of over 5 complete turnovers of the epsom salt water through a multiphase commercial filtration system before and after each session. The state of the art system utilizes micron filtration, UV Light, and peroxide dosing with oxidation. This exceeds recommended guidelines for float equipment.

  • We use a peroxide based fine mister to ensure all surfaces above the float water are properly sanitized and disinfected.

  • The high concentration of clinical grade epsom salt is naturally effective at preventing the growth and proliferation of organic matter.

  • Finally, if you can't tell already, our bePods were specifically designed and manufactured with CDC and NSF guidelines for float equipment in mind from the very beginning.

CDC Guidance (COVID-19)

  • CDC confirmed it is safe to use float tanks, hot tubs, and pools when properly operated, maintained, and disinfected. *It's important to note that float tanks also have a significantly lower bather load than pools and hot tubs, naturally because users are required to shower both before and after each session.

  • CDC confirmed that contact with contaminated surfaces (fomites) is not thought to be the main pathway the virus spreads, but rather direct exposure to respiratory droplets from a cough/sneeze by an infected person (making its way into the mouth, nose, or inhaled into the lungs)

  • COVID-19 can be effectively destroyed using 0.5% hydrogen peroxide. (*Not only does Be Spa use hydrogen peroxide as a secondary surface disinfectant, Be Spa has always maintained safe levels of hydrogen peroxide in our float water at any given time - 50 ppm to 100 ppm, in addition to UL certified ultraviolet light disinfection, ozone, and micron filtration.)

  • Seniors over the age of 65 and those with compromised immune systems are at the highest risk of serious harm. If you are in this high risk group, we ask you to follow guidance provided by local health authorities.
